In 10.1 the directional tab styles (NSLeftTabsBezelBorder, NSBottomTabsBezelBorder, NSRightTabsBezelBorder) are unimplemented.

We intend to have this feature in the next release. As always, you should monitor the AppKit release notes to see if this feature is in a given release.

In its WWDC presentation, the GUI WWDR Manager told the audience that
you could have Tab Panes top, bottom, left, right in both Cocoa and
Carbon.
