memory and launching

Just a quick thought... if OSX allows concurrent startup of apps, and if those apps are dynamically allocated RAM, would starting up two massive apps be a bad idea at the same time? Would it be possible that the apps, if you ended up running off of virtual memory, would possess chunks of data spread so wide across the HD that running the apps would be unbearable?

Just a thought. If I'm wrong, feel free to slap me with a tuna.
