I've tried myself the simplest thing -- the TextEdit's "Open Selection"
service, and right they are! Unlike to 10.0, the menu is there, but _is
not
available and does not work_ -- tested in
TextEdit, the Classic API for text handling apparently does not support
services (at least SimpleText, which is a simple wrapper for TextEdit,
does not). Real text editors like Word don't use that API, they draw the
text themselves (which is not a simple task). And since Carbon programmers
don't know what a service is, they didn't implement any support for it.
