Zooming in/out of images

When I'm scaling images with zoom in/out buttons, am I right in thinking
I don't actually change the NSImage being displayed, just the NSImageView
housing it? Clearly if I were to change the actual image, then if I
shrink the image and enlarge it back again, I'll have lost image
info/quality.

What's the easiest way to scale up/down an NSImageView by a certain
percent, so that it appears in the same size region onscreen (i.e. the
window stays the same size, as do all its subviews), but the image view
is showing it at a magnified level?

Thanks in advance,
Ken
