That's not entirely true. There can and probably would be problems when
nobody's logged in; OTOH in cases you describe you can just link in AppKit
and use its services.
Absolutely not any problem with tools. With WO applications, there seem to
be some clashes between WOApp and NSApp: in my experiance, roughly 50% of
image stuff works well, so that it's better to call the image stuff from a
special thread (roughly 90% of the stuff works well) or even a special task
(100%, since it's again a plain tool).
