Hmm, an interesting possibility, though that sounds like it would add too much overhead.

Of course, if someone had such a daemon already that I could try (or had the knowledge to quickly whip one up), I could do some tests with it. From what little I've read about Distributed Objects, it sound like a powerful and easy-to-use feature.
