extending tutorial for timer

hello,

i've started to learn cocoa and I can already tell that it is amazing in comparison to powerplant or clusmy carbon. but, however, i created a simple application similar to the first cocoa app (the date/time window) written in the cocoa book and I added a checkbox to turn update button on and off. i'd like to let the date periodicaly update itself to contain the current time, but it is not clear to me how do I add the NSTimer object to the controller class. And the question is how do I create a timer which will send me a message which I turn into a NSTextField update message? and one more question. is there some method to tell the NSTimer to be released or just sending the release message to the timer will be sufficient?

Thanks,

Tomas
