talking to usb devices from cocoa

Hi all :)

I am rather new to all this device driver communication stuff and have yet to get my head round it all so I am asking for a little help :)

I think I have got the hang of actually writing a usb driver - getting it to load correctly when you plug the device in etc. but now I want to talk to that (or any) usb driver from within my objC applications.

Just to get the hang of things before I start on the real aims of my coding, I am trying to talk to my rio500 from an objC program. I have no information at all (other than what the IORegistry app tells me) about the rio usb driver - is this a problem? I do know how the rio communicates. How do I go about talking to it either through the rio driver (if you don't need to know much about the driver) or via my own driver (which I would know rather more about <g>).

Thanks

Robert
