SimpleImageFilter do not work

I am trying the SimpleImageFilter Example, but I can not activate the service.

I build the example and copy the SimpleImageFilter.app to the ~/Library/Services/ folder then logout/login and try to drag&drop the SampleImage.iff file to for example TexEdit, or a simple Cocoa program with a NSImageView, both work OK with .tiff, .gif or .pict, but not .iff (or .jpeg), so what is the 'magical' trick here?

This is 10.0.4 with 1.0.1 Dev Tools.
