Erik,
It was very interesting to hear your analysis. On the subject of keeping your UML diagrams in sync with the code, isn't that more the matter of a bad tool. How about tools that do Round Trip Engineering( eg. Together/J). I haven't had extensive experience with these tools, but the change in code is reflected in the UML model. If you add a method in the code, the UML diagram is updated with that method. What are your thoughts on such tools ?
