Making packages look like packages

  • Subject: Making packages look like packages

My very first document-based application uses documents that are actually packages containing .rtf documents. So, how do I tell the system that these packages are packages, and not just folders with a .whatever extension on the end of them? How does the system know to make .rtfd packages look and act like a file?

Thanks in advance,
