Well, that's because the people who have been programming NeXTStep for a
decade collectively threw up their hands and squawked "OHMIGOD!! This book
called 'Learning Cocoa' does not actually have the content of 'The Complete
And Unabridged Definitive Guide to Cocoa'! It has the content of an
INTRODUCTORY book! I got RIPPED OFF!!" and the people who haven't done any
programming collectively threw up their hands and squawked "OHMIGOD!! This
book called 'Learning Cocoa' does not actually have the content of 'Learning
Object-Oriented Programming from Scratch!' It has the content of a book that
thinks you know something OTHER than Cocoa! I got RIPPED OFF!!"
You would have thought the quite straightforwardly descriptive title might
have clued *both* groups into that before they bought it, or that they might
have had enough of a brain in their heads to flip through the book to see if
it looked appropriate for them before buying it, but apparently not.
If you have even moderate programming experience but have never programmed
NextStep before, or Objective-C, or used any of Apple's tools, I'd say it's
well worth the fairly trivial cost to get all this stuff together in one
convenient dead tree handful. But that could be just me. I'm pretty easy
that way. Most ways, actually.

Almost everyone is an idiot.
If you think I'm exaggerating, you're one of them.
