LockPixels(gworldPixMap); //does this matter in OS X? prevents pixels from moving around in memory

This is a very good question. I am writing on Mac OS X with Cocoa and need to create an offscreen GWorld as a destination for a VDIG. Do I still need to care about memory being moved around by the Memory Manager?

I was not able to find any documentation on this topic (something like Carbon for Cocoa programmers would be nice).

I am crossposting this reply to quicktime-api as well.
