I've just booted OSX to check, since in my Mac OS X Server 1 it still works
properly (ie. you select Inspector, press Cmd-w, and inspector goes out, as
it should, leaving the NIB there).

Not what I meant...I leave the Inspector open constantly.
I meant a window within the project. So drag an NSWindow instance into the nib window, and double click to open it, and hit command-w, and the whole document is closed.

And by the way, to a programmer, nibs aren't files, they are packages, but to a user, they might as well be files. Or am I missing something?
