It may be that the C semantics are ludicrous. I won't debate that.
However, given the existing semantics of C, it is clear that when writing C
the asterisk is an attribute of the variable and not of the type. The
asterisk should be indented along with the variable and not with the type.

By the way, I don't really care one way or another. I was cynically making
fun of people who have religious convictions about matters of aesthetics.
There are many coding standards for C in the world. The important thing is
to be consistent to a standard. I don't care which standard you select.
