Gosh, not there! Finder is already nauseatingly overburdened by tasks
which should never been there (like burning CDs or watching for audio CDs
or supporting print preview).
This very very definitely belongs to the API, so that *any* application
which uses the API (including Finder) would behave properly.
I can't do the Carbon part, but if you think it would be reasonable and if
somebody sends me a properly working Carbon code, I can rig a small Cocoa
hack to incorporate the functionality to NSFileManager (mind you that I
don't think it is the best place for it: eventually it should rather be in
the lower BSD layer, but it is not hackable so easily).
