Step 1 is usually held to be "Learn C", and there are at least 1001 books
which will teach you that. Once you've learnt C, then the Apple docs/books
linked to above will teach you Objective C's extras.
PHP is very C-like so someone who knows PHP, for all intents and
purposes, knows C. There's some gotchas that PHP makes easier. But
PHP is a very easy language to pick up for anyone who knows C.
