It's not impossible, but nether is it easy... ;)
You are better off asking this question on one of the QuickTime lists since it has nothing at all to do with Cocoa (Cocoa does not provide any support for such low-level operations). Sample code is available in and around the QuickTime documentation, look for Sequence Grabber:
