NSTimer and screen noise [possibly OT]

Has anyone else noticed that if you fire an NSTimer repeatedly at about 300 times a second, and set the selector method of the target to simply return when called, you get 'banding' (dark horizontal lines) on the screen?

You can vary the speed/direction/spacing of the lines with different frequencies of timer shots.

Sorry... just had to share it with someone ;)
