Hi,
As some of you might have noticed, it took me some time to update the
mailing-list archive
http://cocoa.mamasam.com.
I had to do it directly on the production site because I had no other
choices. I am sorry for the ones who suffered from this.
As you might guess, it takes a very long time to rebuild to whole search
database and unfortunately, the changes are not very noticeable...
FYI, here are the changes I successfully made:
- Updated to Htdig 3.1.6
- Changed a few configuration options for htdig
- Indexing with endings ('drive' match 'drives', 'drivers', 'driving'...).
- Number of pages goes to 20 instead of 10.
- Extended the list of badwords (not indexed words like the, them, it, ...).
- Added boolean query support : you can use AND, OR, NOT and parenthesis.
- Added a small preg parser for queries with spaces (spaces are replaced
with AND boolean keyword instead of returning an error).
- Changed the score factors for more reliability.
- Removed indexing of messages lists for a smaller database and better
results.
Here is what I struggled with and had to temporarily disable:
- Modification dates (I think it is a htdig bug)
- prefixes (they will be back soon...)
- Sort by date or score (related to the above)
