ahum I found out what was wrong, and now I feel soooo stupid ;-((

I had framed all my widgets inside an NSBox, and I had assumed that boxes worked like other widgets,
meaning that you just put the box in your window and "send to back" it to make a nice gray background...
only it was covering my buttons, textfields etc, which work fine... now that they're subviews of the NSBox
