Yeah, but we were telling (or at least, that what I've understood) that the
7bit compatible stuff wasn't necessary anymore...

...except if you're targeting Mac OS 6.07 or 7.0.1 :-)

Even then it is not necessary; it is only necessary if someone is going to try to get it from 7bit not 8bit pipe.
Mail I think is only place now a days where it can be a 7bit pipe.
