I dont know how to do this. I know applescript but not cocoa or obj-c. Is what you are saying possible to do, have the screensaver have a visual countdown and message saying you will be automatically logged out if you dont do something, then once the counter hits zero the user if forcibly logged out. This is exactly what i want to happen but i dont know enough cocoa to do this. Let me know if you can help. Thanks.

I don't see any advantage to having the screen effect launch a different
application. If fact I note at least one major disadvantage: What happens if
someone gets your screen saver but they don't have your application?

Instead I'd recommend that you put all of your code directly into the screen
saver.

All I really am using screen effects for is a timer. So whenever
screeneffects would get activated say after ten minutes, instead of
filling the screen with say flurry, i would set it for my screen.saver
and it would launch Process Viewer, which is only an example. I will
have it launching an application that i made which is used to
automatically log someone with a warning and countdown timer. I have
not seen any automatic logout application/scripts for mac os x. has
anyone else? This is what I am making. So i set the screen effects
activation time to say 20 mins. then once the computer is idle for 20
mins, my screen effects.saver will kick in a launch my application. I
hope i am making myself clear. If not let me know. So if any of you
out there can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
