Basic FTP and .Mac support for a Cocoa app

How would one build in support for both FTP and WebDAV in an app?
Basically what I would like to do is similar to the publish & subscribe
feature found in iCal. You upload a file that holds information, and
others can subscribe to that file, thus getting the latest info.
Anyway, does anyone have experience with using FTP and/or WebDAV?
All help is greatly appreciated!
