But if I replace the type with NSURLPboardType, I only get a single

Is this the way it's supposed to work? Why would I get only one file
out of many when I'm asking for NSURLPboardType?

Yes, it is the way it's supposed to work. That's not to say it's the way it really _should_ work. ;-) The NSURLPboardType seems to be strictly singular and only allows for dragging a single URL. What would be nice would be to have something NSURLsPboardType that would allow dragging multiple URLs at a time. So for now there's not really much that can be done, but you can file a feature request with Apple to try to get it included in a future version.

Please do that. We really need it too (think about dragging multiple
browser bookmarks between windows).
