I want to create large OTF font families similar to Adobe's Pro Optical
series, i.e., large families that have multiple fonts with the same
weight, width and style (regular, bold, italic and bold italic).
Example:
MyFont Roman
MyFont Caption
MyFont Subhead
MyFont Display
No matter what values I use for the various entries in the name table,
Font Panel refuses to show one of the fonts within the family,
typically the base regular font, e.g., MyFont Roman.
Is this a bug?
Can someone who owns an Adobe Pro Optical set verify that Font Panel
accurately displays all members of the family under one family name
entry?
I can create OTF fonts that appear properly in Adobe apps, namely
InDesign and in Character Palette, so I'm assuming there is something
wrong with Font Panel. However, after testing one of my OTF font
families with Character Palette I am unable to delete the fonts without
a restart.
Is this a problem with Character Palette?
Does Mac OS X generate notifications when a font file is deleted from
one of the font library directories?
Does Character Palette respond to font deletion notifications?
I would like to RTFM. Which one has the answers?
Where in the Mac OS X documentation can I find out which name ID
entries in an OTF name table Mac OS X uses?
Do any of the Apple font people monitor any of these lists?
Which list?
