Simple Login Dialog

I am new to Cocoa development. I need to create a very simple login
dialog and I am not sure whether to do this under Cocoa. At least
under Carbon I have a pretty good idea on how to do this and get it
working. All I need to do is display a dialog that has user name and
password. Does anyone have an example of how to do this under Cocoa?
Also should I use Cocoa or Carbon?
