Sound Volume and CGCharCodes/CGKeyCodes

Hi all,

Have a couple of related questions.

Firstly, is there a way to get the current sound
volume and to change it in a way that will bring up
the Sound Volume Indicator use in 10.2 when volume is
changed by the keyboard? Or is this another private
API?

And secondly, the easiest way to do this would be to
use CGSendKeyboardEvent with the keycodes for the
volume keys. But... is there any list of CGCharCodes
and CGKeyCodes, or if there isn't, how would I
generate them? This would be a very, very useful
thing even if it doesn't work for the volume keys,
which wouldn't surprise me at all.

Many thanks in advance from a cocoa newbie,
Fred.
