Still an Interesting Bug

Here's an interesting bug that's existed for quite some time (I've filed a
report that's been confirmed - from the 10.0.x days). Shouldn't it be fairly
easy to fix?

http://iacas.org/asm/bug.mov

1. Open TextEdit
2. Save the default document you're given somewhere
a) if it's rtf, hide the extension
b) if it's txt, show the extension [1]
3. command-click on the title to get the popup list, drag around a little.

Expected behavior: the selection in the popup moves.

Actual behavior: the selection moves... As does the whole window.

It's a system-wide "Cocoa" bug. Do the same thing in OmniGraffle (hiding the
extension). Happens in any document-based Cocoa app I've written too.
TextEdit isn't document-based, but this behavior doesn't happen in BBEdit or
Excel or Word or AppleWorks (some carbon apps - they don't tend to show the
popup fully as Cocoa apps do either).

[1] Basically, do whatever it takes to not make the menu title change.
TextEdit provides "Untitled.txt" for txt documents and "Untitled" for rtf
documents.
