FTP uploading with writeToURL: and NSURL ?

There are several classes that have built-in saving. You can use the
method writeToFile, but what about writeToURL ? Has anyone tried this
out before? Looking at the NSURL docs it seems as if you can make a url
that contains a username and password. Looks quite interesting. Would
it be possible to save a certain file to an FTP server with this? If
not, what is it for then?
Does anyone have experiences with this?
