now and they are out of my reach in my office) contain in depth
discussions of the way the compiler and the runtime worked.

242-247, you will find my article called "Mac OS X: Entwickeln mit
Cocoa", where I have tried to explain how a Cocoa app works including
the outlet/connection business. Maybe you want to give it a try.
