Finder refresh Application cache question.

  • Subject: Finder refresh Application cache question.

When my installer replaces an application that already exists in
/Applications the icon for the app stays visible until you actually
try to click on it, and then it vanishes. This kind of makes sense as
the 'old' application did indeed go away.

The problem is that I can't get the replacement application to re-appear except
via logout/login or by using the 'Go to Folder' menu under 'Go'
and typing /Applications/foo.app

I get a message that the folder wasn't found, BUT the app icon then re-appears
and all is well. Is there a way (from the command line) to cause the
Finder to refresh /Applications correctly? Something I can put in my
post_install script perhaps?

Thanks

chuck
