guess Quartz is doing a lot of trigonometric calls (even if common cases are
optimised manually).

I heard Apple is working on this, however. (well, the bug has been filed
numerous times, and it is in the opensource database...)

I think Apple moved to a PPC assembly mathlib in 10.1...
