That is not what he was asking. GCC is not the only compiler in the
world, and even being available for a particular platform doesn't mean
you'll be using it (there are alternatives).
What I'd recommend is separate the C files, creating headers for the
interesting functions, then create an ObjC wrapper for it. Being C
files, they will be tested as it by the compiler.

Stay cool, ObjC is as portable as GCC is -- which means almost
universally.
