Anti-aliased fonts

  • Subject: Anti-aliased fonts

I noticed in OmniWeb that they have a preference for smoothing fonts above a certain pitch size.

I thought fonts were anti-aliased by default? My point been, maybe we can get quicker rendering if we're able to turn anti-aliasing off for the text in a given view. I was thinking it might speed up scrolling in NSTableView.

Perhaps it's a Quickdraw thing they're using, which would surprise me from OmniGroup? Maybe they do something with AFM files, though I'm not sure if they have them on MacOS X.

Any thoughts?

Mike.
