Well, might it be a localizable issue?!? Anyway, all Mac keyboards I've
seen
so far -- *both* Czech and English ones -- contained just "Alt" and the
icon
there.
Non-US English (e.g. British English) keyboards have the symbol, not the
text. The only ones I've seen /with/ the text are US ones (that's not
to say there aren't others).
