Ohhhh, THAT volume. Take a look at SetDefaultOutputVolume(). It's a Carbon function and it's defined in Sound.h. You can also delve deeper into the Sound Manager and/or CoreAudio if you need more control. CoreAudio is best for OS X, but the docs seem to be somewhat lacking.

When I said system volume I meant to say "system sound volume",
and not the system volume itself.

So clarifying, is there any way to get the current system sound volume level and
any way to set it?

Thanks,
Alex

Has anyone here dealt with having to change the system volume to a
specific setting?

I was wondering if that was possible and how to do it.

Look at the 'bless' command from the terminal.
