Cocoa database info

Hi gang:

This is rather a general newbie type question...

I am working on an application that is a database type thing. I need it to be multiuser, but I don't want the user to have to install some database back end. The ultimate structure is very simple just two "tables" if we are talking in database terms - with a one to many relationship. The file needs to be able to reside either on a server or locally depending on how the user sets it up.

So I have a couple of questions.

1) Is there something I can include with my application that already has database type of functionality? I don't want a separate install for the user.

2) Where can I find info on how to write/setup the file structures and routines to do this kind of application, not necessarily specific to cocoa, just more conceptually? Any recommended books or the like?

TIA
Judi Smith
