that setting appears to either move the resource fork into the data fork of a seperate file, or apparently add it to the resource fork of the binary file, that option fails for me when I choose it...

There's a setting in Project Builder's Targets pane that lets you set whether the resource data goes in the resource fork or in an .rsrc file.
