They keycap on every mac keyboard I've used has been "option" in big
letters, and "alt" in big letters above it. just like the help key,
the forward delete symbol key, and clear key (and F13-F15) all have
their PC equivs in small letters at the top of the key.

What's the correct name of the Alternate/Option key? The keycap is labeled
"alt", but AFAIK Mac users usually call it the "Option key".
I searched the "Mac OS X Terminology Guidelines", but only the Apple key /
Command key is mentioned:
Apple key: Don't use; the key with the cloverleaf and the Apple logo is
"the Command key."
