Command-delete shortcut in IB?

For some reason I can't assign the command-delete shortcut to a menu item in IB. When I do, and then run the app, it appears as command-forward-delete instead - and, in fact, command-forward-delete is the shortcut. If I try command-forward-delete as the shortcut then I get no shortcut at all.

This seems so simple, and yet I'm stumped. Is there some magic I'm missing?
