NSWindow tiers

Does anybody know the current situation regarding NSWindow tiers?

http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/macosx/Cocoa/ProgrammingTopics/Scripting
/ScriptableApps/ScriptableApps.2.html notes that Tiers still exist.

However, I am unable to determine how many tiers there now are, and what is
stored in each tier.

If anybody can find out, please let me know. Thanks.
