disabling TableView

I must be blind here...

I have a couple of Controls in my window which I want to (de)activate
according to the state of a checkbox. This works fine for TextFields and
Buttons, but somehow my TableViews just seem to ignore setEnabled:NO messages.

Any advice is welcome

P.S. While talking about this, is it possible to disable certain rows in
a table?
