Wow, that is rather high...
If I recall correctly, the "free" version of Berkeley DB (as distributed
from UC Berkeley) is under a BSD-style license, *not* the GPL, which should
only require that you note in your About box and/or documentation that "This
product contains software copyright by the Regents of the University of
California" or some such.
Berkeley DB may be more than you wanted anyway. Would the built-in
NSArchiver/NSCoding functionality not be sufficient?
