I don't mean to be harsh. I do _humbly_ make only a request. There are few
forums that have a high signal to noise ratio. There are few places to get
timely accurate technical information. There are few places frequented by
people with deep and broad knowledge.
I have no objection to newbies. We all like to share our avocation and
vocation. The more the merrier. However, as has been recently suggested in
etiquette posts about asking "good" questions, asking very trivial questions
that are readily answered by documentation and examples on your own machine
(never mind on the web like the Vermont Recipes) degrades the ratio of good
technical information to noise/trivialities for everyone.
I am certainly not the sole judge of what is trivial, but the message that
started this is surely an indisputable example. I was polite. I provided
an accurate and reasonably complete answer with references. I also made a
small _humble_ request. It is only my request. If the original poster
ignores my request as has he is certainly entitled to do then that is my
problem. I invited him to participate when he had better questions. I did
not ask anyone to go away. I tried to be inviting and polite while
requesting a slight modification of behavior.

Here is one answer (I have not compiled it):
