That is the reality that we live in. Certainly it is the reality that our
code lives in! The reality of our forebears was one where monolithic
computing environments were provided by IBM. Now bits of code float in on a
digital wave as plug-ins, web services, or even simply additional 3rd party
applications running side-by-side on the same computer. Cocoa (through
Objective-C) provides the means of communication for the electronic forum
that is computing at the start of the 21st century.
