It is an opensource research project conducted by second year students at a
school in Paris. They've got a Mac OS X port with a cocoa front-end. The
playback performance is fairly terrible because they're doing all their
decoding in software. But you should be able to freeze a frame and take a
picture of it. The video quality is decent but the playback tends to be
somewhat jerky.
