NSOutlineView/NSTableView sorting?

Hi,

just to be sure:
is it true that the dataSource itself is responsible for sorting the items
shown in a NSTableView or NSOutlineView?

(New to Cocoa and coming from Carbon I am used to the DataBrowser who did
the sorting for me.)
