Magnification cursor

Does anyone know how the Magnification cursor is done in the Cocoa color picker? It actually magnifies what is underneath of it, it's very cool. I am not looking to put something silly into my application, I am just curious how it is done. Is there a cursor api for creating advanced cursors like this? Or, is it a window that redraws itself as it moves with the cursor.

Anyway, just curious.

Thanks,
-dustin
