It could be quite easily (see the compiler documentation, "format"
attribute), but alas, without %@ recognition.

Now _THAT_ would be a great improvement! Anybody who can use the Apple
bugreporterthing (my ADC account does not work there, dunno why), might you
want to fill a feature request of extending the GCC "format" function
attribute to support a new archetype, which would recognize %@ (and to use it
for all those NSLog, stringWithFormat:, etc.)?
